![]() Microsoft has not given an official date for the Snipping Tool to leave its preview. Snip & Sketch provides more power and functionality than its predecessors, including a keyboard shortcut (Win+Shift+S) for easy access. It gets some features directly from Snip & Sketch. ![]() The Snipping Tool takes the elements of Windows 10’s Snip & Sketch but brings back the old Snipping Tool name. Specifically, Snipping Tool version 11.2212.24.0 is available for Insiders on the Beta Channel and now allows them to pause their recordings. That is now changing as it seems the company has stabilized the app and is rolling it to the Beta Channel. Microsoft’s updated version of the app from December 2022 was also locked in the Dev Channel. However, since then the tool has been locked in the Windows Insider Program as a preview. That tool was limited to the Dev Channel for Windows Insiders but is now graduating to the Beta Channel.īack in 2021, Microsoft brought a new Snipping Tool to Windows 11, giving users a native screen recording option on the platform. In December, Microsoft updated the feature to add a screen recording function before improving on that with the ability to pause when recording.
